Geo-RelNAV

High-Accuracy, Real-Time Relative Positioning and Orientation System

Geo-RelNAV is a high-accuracy, real-time relative positioning and orientation system. Geo-RelNAV provides precise relative position and orientation between moving platforms such as UAV’s. This is critical in applications such as UAV collision avoidance and landing systems where the precise relative position and orientation between the UAV and the landing platform is essential for successful autonomous landing. Geo-RelNAV offers a variety of processing, GPS and IMU options and can be configured to cover a broad performance spectrum.

  • Completely autonomous - no external reference is needed for relative information
  • Not sensitive to magnetic field
  • 1-2 centimeter relative positioning accuracy
  • Small footprint - 25 cubic inches (without external IMU). Size of IMU enclosure depends on IMU used
  • Light weight - 15.8 oz. (without external IMU). Weight of IMU enclosure depends on IMU used.
  • Internal TDMA data link optional
  • 1 RS-232 port and 1 Ethernet port
  • On-board data logging of all raw and solution data
  • Powered by Precise Instantaneous Network (PIN) positioning, based on Geodetics’ Epoch-by-Epoch® technology, a new network-based real-time methodology not requiring multi-epoch initialization and re-initialization
  • Mil-Spec ruggedization
  • Configurable with single or dual-frequency GPS receivers
  • Configurable with various grade IMU’s including Honeywell HG1900, HG1700 and HG9900 and various MEMS devices
  • On board end-user application support

Relative navigation applications include:

  • Automated landing systems for UAV’s
  • UxV collision avoidance
  • UxV Swarming
  • UxV Leader/Follower Formations
